Although it is winter and the least likely time for you to use your deck or outdoor area, it is a perfect time to get a deck built or relayed. When new decking is laid you need to give the timber whatever species, time to release its natural colour, which can take up to 12 weeks.
In winter the extra rain periods can fasten up this process without the extra need of hosing, once this period has lapsed and the tenon’s in the timber have been released you can prepare the deck for oiling. The deck is now more likely to absorb the oil, which will extend the time before you need to re-oil.
So getting your deck done in winter is ideal because it will be ready to go in the warmer months when you are ready to entertain outside. Not to mention the majority of customers get there outdoor areas constructed in the warmer months when your builder is most in demand, which may also get you a better price.
Just another tip from Sebastian at Woodfellas.
